The pace of developments has not reached a conjunctural point, where future advances will not be in charge of the human brain, as in the first industrial revolutions; but by the same machines. And this due to artificial intelligence (AI).
What is Artificial Intelligence.
Broadly speaking, artificial intelligence is the ability of a machine or program to learn and think like a human.
But going a little further, artificial intelligence means finding statistical patterns in data bases at a level similar to human intelligence. (You will find some examples later)
The term artificial intelligence It was delimited in 1955 by John McCarthy, an American scientist who made great developments in the area of logic. And for a few years, we have been surrounded by it.
In addition, due to the law of accelerated returns explained above, it is to be expected that artificial intelligence will also evolve; which gives rise to different types of AI.
Artificial Intelligence classes.

1. Narrow.
This is the artificial intelligence that surrounds us today and it is designed to do a specific task.
For example, think of the software that plays chess. At present, they are better than the best chess player. To the point that there are chess tournaments only for programs.
Another example is your Facebook or Instagram wall. Through AI, the software is capable of analyzing the behaviors of millions of users to find behavior patterns; and finally show you content that guarantees that you will continue to use those social networks.
However, despite performing the tasks for which they were programmed better than any human; they can just do that task.
2.General.
This is the next step for AI and it will take place when machines or programs are capable of executing a variety of tasks with the same capacity as the human brain.
For this to happen, computers must have the same processing capacity and must be able to “be intelligent”.
Regarding the first condition, there are already computers with more processing power than the brain.
Currently, the fastest supercomputer is Summit and it is part of the US government. It is about the size of 2 tennis courts and can do 1 quintillion calculations per second.
However, both Summit and other super computers consume large amounts of energy and being so large, it is difficult to massify its power to scale it to other devices.
And speaking of the intelligence of these super-computers, there is still work to be done to be better than a human in a diverse range of activities. That is, the capacity is already there, but the “how” to achieve it is missing.

3. Super artificial intelligence.
Nick Bostrom, philosopher and AI thought leader, defines artificial super intelligence as:
“An intellect that is far more intelligent than the best human brains in virtually every field. Including scientific creativity, general wisdom, and social skills.”
That is to say that the general AI would simply be an initial version of the super intelligence. And therefore, the super AI would leave the human totally behind in all types of intelligence.
Experts suggest that this type of intelligence could work in 3 ways:
- As a oracle, to which the human would go in search of knowledge. (Something like Google is right now but in a much more advanced way)
- As a genius, which will be told what to do. (For example, ask him to change the molecular structure of airplane components to make them stronger and lighter.)
- As a sovereignwho will make decisions for himself.
The future on earth.
At this point, it seems imminent that AI will have incredible capabilities and far superior to those of man. And of course, that generates illusions and fears.
According to experts, general artificial intelligence will reach us approximately in 2040. According to the law of accelerated returns, once this point is reached; super artificial intelligence will be a matter of a short time. For some experts, it will arrive in 2060.
Every second that passes puts more pressure. What will happen if there is a race superior to humans? Will we go extinct? Will we have the power to be immortal? Can we reverse the damage we have caused to the earth?
