“A year ago I left San Francisco, (California). I sold everything and left my belongings to become a traveler with a 40-kilo backpack on my back.”
This is what Jay Meistrich, co-founder and CEO of Moo.do, recounts. Who demonstrates that it is possible to travel earning money for the web portal Entrepreneur.com.
Jay, He traveled to 45 cities in 20 countries, and yet his total living costs were far less than the cost of living in San Francisco. He managed to divide his time between meeting and working 50 hours a week to build his project.
For this CEO, the style of traveling for money is a productive way to create a company. With few resources, he worked tirelessly to get Moo.do up and running.
“I travel because it’s cheaper, more productive, and more inspiring than being cooped up in one place. Traveling is the most responsible decision for the good of my company, my finances and my personal growth”.

His “nomadic” lifestyle was born from different circumstances in his life, three years ago when he was about to leave his job at Microsoft to start his project in San Francisco. A friend asked him how necessary it was to move to that city, if it was about working from his personal computer, this could be done from anywhere. This idea made a lot of sense to him, and the more he thought about it, the more he wondered about his “normal life”.
Jay rejected the concept of a 9am to 5pm job, he wanted to explore the world, enjoy the daylight. He resisted the idea of being cooped up and daydreaming about the upcoming vacation. He wanted to experience new cultures, try new foods instead of being stuck in the usual environment.
Once he made his decision, he traveled 6 months through Australia, Asia and Europe, however, he did not get good results and he returned to San Francisco. Traveling was fun, but he needed to focus on his project and what better place than Silicon Valley to start his journey.
Once established there, he found he was easily back in his comfort zone, but with fewer ideas, more distractions, and much more television to watch. He would spend 12 hours in front of his computer without feeling that he was really being productive.
During this time, a couple of trips to New York and London were enough to realize that his productivity was much higher when he was in new places, environments and experiences. Her mind was much more active than usual, she could perform many more tasks in 6 hours of work than 12 hours in front of her computer.
Discovering this pattern allowed him to finally follow a lifestyle of traveling for money, where he feels much happier, productive, meets new people, and in which he finally launched Moo.do.
Traveling had become his life, so he decided to take the discovery of these places easy. If he was going to be in the city for a month, he would take the time to explore it, managing to combine his work and tourism.
Instead of working during the day, he preferred to go out and explore these new places and leave work for the night. She did not have to travel to her “workplace” so she could make better use of her time. He has no problem working 7 days a week, with a flexible schedule that allows him to take any day off if he wishes, or go to the movies at 2 in the afternoon when it’s empty.
