In a world as busy as the one we live in, the word productivity has become one of the most analyzed terms.
There are hundreds of books, systems, and even apps that promise to teach you the secret formula.
Likewise, there are countless definitions of success, since each person has their own. However, being successful has a common factor that we cannot deny: “Being productive”
Being a productive person is a great challenge. The day has only 24 hours and we must use them to work, rest, eat, study, listen, have fun, transport ourselves, socialize… In short, little time and much to do.
However, there are people who seem to have twice the time. They have time for everything, they achieve their goals and share with their family and friends.
Super productive people are very skilled at achieving more things in less time and they know that to achieve this they must build habits that allow them to organize their day; so that they can maximize the 24 hours that seem like a very short time to most.
Below you will find 5 habits that will transform you into a very productive person.
5 Habits that will transform you into a very productive person.
1. They start each day with an intention and with a goal.
Starting the day with a clear idea of what you want to do will completely change the results you get at the end of the day. If you start your day waiting for what fate has in store for you, you are getting up on the wrong foot.
Highly productive people are ready for tomorrow before they leave the office. They have a very strict routine that allows them to analyze how productive they were; and with these results plan what they will do the next day.
This habit will only take a few minutes and is an excellent strategy to maximize your productivity.
2. Train your body.
Exercising is probably the best method to stay positive, both physically and psychologically. If you maintain a heavy workload, exercising is one of the best tools to raise your energy and meet all your obligations.
Adapting exercise to your life and making it a habit will make you feel good, look good and therefore project a positive image.
Few find it easy to integrate this habit into their lives, but keep in mind that if your body and mind are not in shape, your company and your work will not be.
3. Find the perfect way to say NO.
“NO” is a word that highly productive people are not afraid to say. A study conducted by the University of California found that the more difficult it is for a person to say NO, the greater the chances of experiencing stress, exhaustion and depression. Saying No is one of the great challenges for most people.
We say YES because we don’t want to seem rude in front of others, but as a consequence, we accept things that are not in our interest or we cannot handle at the moment; making us lose valuable time.
4. Don’t be a multitasker.
Keeping your energy and concentration spread across different tasks considerably reduces your efficiency and performance.
Stanford University has shown in research that people who believe they have the gift of being able to do many things at the same time are not as productive as those who focus on one task at a time.
This study showed that people who are regularly bombarded by different sources of information have difficulty paying attention, remembering, and responding quickly.
If you believe that by doing more, you will be more productive; Remember that your brain is more efficient if it focuses on one thing at a time. (Learn more about attention residue.)
5. Take breaks regularly.
Being productive does not mean that you cannot get up from your desk, or take your eyes off your computer until you finish your work. Don’t be afraid to go outside for a moment and rest.
There are times when your mind gets blocked, making your work slower and more difficult. If you don’t have things clear, it’s because your brain needs to rest; so do not waste time and withdraw for a few minutes from what you are doing.
If there is something you are not clear about, it needs to wait. When you return to work you will find the answer.
