They have become the most recognized brands in entrepreneurship, and it is not surprising; what these characters have achieved so far has had a direct effect on our lives.

All these technological advances have generated a chain reaction that has transformed our lives and made them what they are now.
However, there are other entrepreneurs who, although their work has not had such a direct impact on our lives; Yes, it has had forceful repercussions on the future of humanity.
This is what I felt when reading the book Elon Musk: The Entrepreneur Who Anticipates the Future, written by Ashlee Vance.

In a world that is permanently focused on creating new applications, Musk is working in areas that few have dared and this caught my attention.
As always, we only find out about the triumphs of these characters when they are at the top; but we do not know what they had to do to achieve it. To change that, I’m going to share with you what I find most relevant to the Elon Musk story.

Zip2, X.com, Paypal, Space X, Tesla, Solar City, Hyperloop; 7 companies that have emerged thanks to the genius of this entrepreneur and all his efforts (today he has others).
Some will say that it is very easy when you have money to invest, but Musk had nothing when he came to the United States. He migrated from his home country of South Africa to Canada and then to the United States.
Elon Musk’s first venture

It was created from an office, which was not only his workplace. Elon Musk slept on the floor, near his desk; while he was writing the code for his first venture.
Which was acquired by Compaq in 1999 and Musk received 22 million dollars. It took him 4 years to achieve it.
Of the entire book, there was one sentence that made this text very valuable, and made me look at it from a broader angle than you get when reading a biography. In one of the interviews that Musk had with Ashlee Vance, he stated:
“I think there are probably a lot of smart individuals chasing success in the internet, finance and law; And that’s one of the reasons why we haven’t seen a lot of innovation.”
Perhaps for this reason, after the sale of Paypal, Elon Musk withdrew a bit from the world of the internet and devoted his energies to Space X and Tesla.
Both companies are revolutionizing their industries. And for both, Musk risked his entire fortune.
The awesomeness continued.
No one ever imagined that an electric vehicle could be faster and more efficient than an internal combustion one. However, Elon Musk made it happen despite all the bad comments from the press.
In addition, there were difficulties meeting delivery times, which were getting longer and longer because Tesla engineers had to reinvent everything in order to fulfill the promises that Musk made to the public.
Promises that the auto industry never considered and that made Musk look like a madman at the time; but that in the long term ended up being a reality.
To infinity and beyond.
For many years the aerospace industry did not witness major changes. It is in fact a little known industry and only NASA and Boeing are the registered names; at least in my mind.
Yet Musk is making possible what the brightest minds in these companies, and even governments, have thought impossible.

As I read the book, I learned that Musk intended the rockets to be reusable, which would lower the cost of each launch; making them return to earth instead of becoming space junk.
Today, it was already a reality.
All this and more are things that Musk has had in his mind and has believed that they can be materialized.
Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the creators of Google meet with Musk to discuss these ideas. Ideas that for many are silly, but that could really generate substantial changes in the world.
Future ideas.
At the end of the book, Vance tells us about one of these conversations where Musk started talking about an electric jet that took off vertically.
Larry Page added that it should be able to land on snow slopes. And Sergey said that he should be able to land at a pier in Manhattan. An unusual conversation but one that allows us to see why these characters are what they are.
It is a book that I fully recommend, Elon Musk is an entrepreneur with a different touch and with ideas that go beyond our imagination. According to Forbes, his fortune is 264.9 billion dollars. (August 2022)

Elon Musk’s story shows us that it is possible. Yes, the ideas we have are worth fighting for. You should never doubt that.
Focus, validate your ideas, and go for them. If you don’t do it, someone else will…and that will only bring regrets. It is better to play it, fall, learn from mistakes and always get up. That’s what life is all about, at least one worth living.
