The week starts and it’s hard to stay focused on work after the weekend. Perhaps you have projects and work accumulated, it is difficult to know where to start and finish the most immediate tasks.
If you find yourself in one of those days where you can’t seem to focus and are easily distracted, here are some ways to stay focused longer and increase your productivity at work:
1.Don’t try to multitask.
Maybe you have a lot of work accumulated. Stop for a moment and prioritize. Only one task at a time. Do not answer calls and write your reports simultaneously for example. Write notes of the most important tasks if necessary, this is the best way to organize your time.
2. Disconnect from your cell phone.
It is incredible how the sound of the cell phone, messages and calls divert all our attention. Turn off your cell phone or leave it in a place where you can’t see it during periods when you have to perform an important task.
3. Check your email 1-2 times a day.
It is advisable to check email only once in the morning and once in the afternoon, unless strictly necessary. If your work depends on this, find a way to organize your time attending to the pending emails of the day or what requires your urgent attention.
4. Organize your space properly.
Cluttered spaces in your office or workplace impact your productivity and allow you to be easily distracted. Putting everything in order and organized according to what is most immediate and important speeds up your work.
5. Turn off the radio or television.
Definitely, although sometimes they manage to relax us at work, television or radio capture a lot of our senses, so they don’t let us concentrate 100%. On the contrary, they can exhaust us before our time. You must turn them off to achieve maximum productivity.
