A dissatisfied work team can be a cause of failure, which is why it is important to put ourselves in the shoes of all those who work to move our projects forward. Generally, we are more concerned with how we are feeling or how we see our future, but we must see that without a consistent work team, our vision of the future can be clouded.
It is no coincidence that the best companies are pioneers in employee treatment; from incredible offices to the power to schedule their own vacations, these are just some of the practices they profess and they do not do it simply for a “humanitarian” issue, it is more than proven that a happy employee is much more productive and therefore more profitable.
All of the above leads us to this question: How can you motivate your work team?
1. Valuing your time.
Ideally, the employees and the work team have a sense of belonging to your project and this will be achieved when you show them that you can give more than just a monetary incentive. In many companies, the day-to-day needs mean that employees have to stay a little longer once their workday is over (sometimes much longer) and when they ask for time to carry out extra work activities, they often receive a NO as reply.
The main thing is to respect the working day or implement flexible hours, in this way they will not feel that they are giving more than what they receive and as a consequence they will give everything on their part to move the project forward.
2. Locating them in the indicated position.
Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder of Facebook, says he spends 25% of his working time recruiting new talent and making sure employees are in the right place, since there are people who can have a bigger impact in the right position. If people do not perform the position that is commensurate with their potential, there will be two negative effects: They will get bored and they will be less productive.
3. Appreciating your accomplishments.
Deep down we all seek acceptance and something as simple as: “This turned out excellent, thank you very much for your effort”, can make a pawn become a bishop.
Motivation is an essential part, as it will give employees and the work team enough reasons to give everything to defend your interests.
4. Giving them a voice.
At Pixar, the producer of animated films, they have a policy in which all employees, including cleaning people, can give their opinion about anything; this in order to obtain feedback and also to give importance to each member of the team. Thus, it is not just the eyes of a few who see what is happening, on the contrary, all eyes are taken into account to make the company a better place.
